Fairy Tale Lovin'

I'm a lover of everything magical, whimsical, and fairy tale-like.

Recently I have been so inspired by Fairy Tales and Nursery Rymthes that I started doing some art work based on the different stories. I just finished one for Humpty Dumpty and it's so insanely cute and I cannot wait to frame it and hang it on my living room wall.

Beautiful Music - Peaceful Inside

I love music just like everyone else on this planet...but I don't think I like it as much as most people do. Anything that makes me feel relaxed inside is great in my book. A few artist/bands I simply cannot live without would be:

Number One : The Magnetic Fields - or anything Stephin Merritt is/was apart of.
Number Two : Múm : An amazing experitmental group from Iceland. They sound so magical and make we want to ride a horse through flowers all friggin' day long.
Number Three : Fever Ray/The Knife : Fever Ray is the solo alias of Karin Dreijer Andersson. It's a very drousy kind of music that puts you into a trance. She is also in The Knife (with her brother) which is a bit more upbeat and funky.
Number Four : Moby : He is just so fan-friggin-tastic with his wonderful words and sampled electronic music. Go animal rights!
Number Five : Julia Holter : Beautiful woman, beautiful music. Bedroom, starry eyed music. Very Ethereal
Number Six : Yann Tiersen : Another one that's very whimsical and flowy. He's a French musician, cannot get any better than that. A lovely man, Christian, recently introduced me to his music and I cannot get enough of it. Seriously.

Here's one more that my lovely friend introduced me to.  Enjoy!

Pittsburgh...Cleveland in the Twilight Zone.

Just got back from a lovely day and a half trip to Pittsburgh with my equally lovely lady, Nicole. I don't care what anyone says...I loved it. Sure it has what I like to call "Moutain Folk". You know the hill-side living creeps who may or may not be products of incest...close to those from The Hills Have Eyes. I might be acting dramatic and possibly a bit cruel...but that is what I think about when headed into Pittsburgh. Downtown is the bees-knees though. We checked out this amazing little coffee shop called Crazy Mocha on Liberty Ave. and it has an adorable picture of a goat. Had some yummy veggie and hummus wraps and iced coffee and it was just so lovely.

This is Nicole below. She's my bestfriend and adorable.
This is Nicole. She's my best friend and so adorbale
We also visited this little Pop-Up-Shop bookstore called Awesome Books where we most definitely bought some books. I bought Sex, Drugs, And Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman, who is absolutely brilliant. I am only about 15 pages in and I'm falling in love with him word by word...we can make Sim people and have a virtual - cyber relationship. I am so okay with that. I also bought a book with 13 horror stories. Just a collection of Edgar Allan Poe, H.P. Lovecraft and others. I'm excited to start that one too.

Basically this was a trip with one thing in mind.....food. Chocolate filled crescents, an entire large cheese and mushroom pizza, bread sticks, lots and lots of coffee, eggplant soup, mini muffins, hummus/veggie wraps....just tons of food for such little ladies. Normally I can't even force myself to eat that much or I will vomit...Exorcist style, but for some reason I was completely capable to shovel large amounts of food into my face and not even feel fazed by it. I love vacations!

Annnd of course we had to check out the Andy Warhol Museum. I was never a huge fan of Mr. Warhol. I don't know if it was just because of the pretentiousness of his "fans", which if I may add filled the air of the very large 7 floor museum from the snobby artsy peeps, or his ability to ruin lives, or even his lack of talent. I have learned there was more to this odd-ball than I originally thought...still not my favorite artist, hell probably not on my top 10 list - but I have a newfound respect for that weird creature we like to call Andy Warhol. Anyway, I think everyone should check it out at least once in their life...definitely not boring.
So after coffee shop goodness and books galore we walked...and walked...and walked some more. I have never had so much fun walking around aimlesslly...mainly because it was in a strange place that I had no idea where I was going.  Like I said, I don't care what anyone says...I still love Pittsburgh and will return frequently.

Ooh Valentines Day....I hate you.

Ooh Valentines Day. A wonderful day of spending time with you significant other, feeding each other chocolate covered strawberries, having a lovely candle-lit dinner, hot bang session....the usual. Ooh and flowers, let's not forget the 2 dozen red, long stemed roses. Only in the movies, right? RIGHT!

Every year I get all excited about Valentines Day and every year is more disappointing the one before. Even when I am dating someone - somehow they forget, are they break- up with me...and I think it's because no man...correction...no BOY wants to take a little time and a bit of money to show their lovely, beautiful, spunky, awesome girlfriend they care. Honestly it is the most horrible holiday (aside from Sweetest Day - an Ohio thing) But I sure do love flowers. Bring me a leaf...I will still put it in a vase!

So anyway, every year it is rather disappointing. I end up in my batth tub with a bottle of wine - no glass just the bottle - after getting my crunk on in there I eat piles of food to soften the blow to my heart and ego, and then cat cuddling follows. I usually like to put in a slasher movie as well. Preferable ones where a girlfriend sees her boyfriend being ripped limb from limb - usually perks me right up!

This year I do have a somewhat Valentine. Or a few. One is my hunky dreamboat of a stud! Even though we didn't make any plans for tonight, he did send me a lovely "Happy Valentines Day" text at around 5am, which has made me smile all day - doesn't take much to capture my heart. That's just as good as chocolates and flowers - although I still want the hot bang session. He has taken the cake on all previous Valentines Days, for shizzle!

I also have my lovely friend Nicole and her very lovely friend Tatjana. We decided to try to not be such cynical ladies and go out for a Valentines Day dinner together. So over-all I cannot complain about today too much.

Have a Happy V-Day!

Vitamin D - The Sunshine Vitamin

I come into work yesterday and basically the first words I hear are "The Vitamin D deficiency is now recognized as an epidemic" Saaay what? Thanks to my lovely mother and her weird obsession with reading articles on vitamins and other strange things, I now know that the U.S. has a Vitmain D epidemic...no other country does, just good ol' America. And even more so for us peeps in Ohio and other neighboring states since we have lack of sunshine. We only have dark skies, clouds, and rain - which I am completely OK with. So, because my mother knows that I cannot afford vitamins (since I spend all my money on clothes and Vladimir...oh and bills) she came into work with two humungo bottles of Womens One A Days and Vitamin D. God bless her soul for keeping her vitamin D deficient daughter up to par.

Make sure to get your pale ass cabooses out in the sun and soak up some up that sweet, sweet Vitamin D! Your body will surely thank you!

If you don't then here are the consequences, thanks to
http://jn.nutrition.org/content/135/11/2739S.full
"Vitamin D deficiency causes poor mineralization of the collagen matrix in young children’s bones leading to growth retardation and bone deformities known as rickets. In adults, vitamin D deficiency induces secondary hyperparathyroidism, which causes a loss of matrix and minerals, thus increasing the risk of osteoporosis and fractures."

Happy Days!

The Anxiety of Online "Shopping"

I feel like I am actually completely and utterly insane. Here's why - or at least one of the infinity reasons -

So, I love decorating. Ooh boy do I, but before I do anything I spend hours, months even, figuring out what my next step will be. It gives me such happiness, but there is also a dark-side to this amazingness. The dark-side meaning what comes up must come down and what I come down with is a humungo ** (I make up my own words) anxiety attack. I found this website called http://www.houzz.com/ and it's the greatest site ever.

You get to pick a theme, style, and space. Example : Eclectic Bedroom, Bathroom, Living Room - you ge it.
It will then give you fabulous photos like the ones below...

If you like what you see, you then add it into your very own "ideabook" and keep it there for reference. It's amazing, and I spend hours on it organizing, adding, shaking from excitement, adding, organizing some more and eventually crying because I have all these great ideas but am too over-whelmed to do any of them.

Maybe it doesn't sound like it's too crazy, but when it goes down....Damn!

** Humungo: Pronounced - Hu as in Who - Mun as in m-u-n in Munchies - Go as in "Green light, GO!"
Say it with me now, Who-Mun-Go. Humungo!
 Definition : Huge

And that is the name of that crazy tune.

The Keeper of Fabrics & Other Cool Things

Hi! I'm Chelsea. I'm a cat lover and obsessed with Stephin Merritt of the Magnetic Fields and Betty White, actually scratch that...with all the Golden Girls. This wont be a blog about anything too specific (cats), just everything that's cool (cats)....or cool to me (cats). And hopefully to you too.

I am Romanian, Swiss, and Black Irish, holler, and often get mistaken as a Gypsy. I enjoy doing ballet, in the comfort of my own apartment - of course - Swan-like grace here I come!

I will post about cats (duh), clothing, Betty White, knitting, mugs, my favorite music, ballet, my life adventures ( hanging out with my cat on weekends falls in the category Adventures, right? ) singing, fabrics / how it's okay to be a fabric snob, artsy films, and anything else my little heart desires.

Did I mention I have a cat? His name is Vladimir named after Vlad III - Wikipedia that shit.
